Daniel's 1st day in kindy

My darling boy entered kindy this year @ age 4

His last week orientation was bad...crying non-stop

But today is better...just a little hiccup

Morning wake up said "wanna go por por house"

Refused to change to his uniforms but at last he did after much mumblings from his mummy a.k.a. Me

Reach kindy and refused to step in

So, I led him to his classroom n tell him mummy need to go to work

He then cried super loud n one of the teacher Rata needs to carry n console him

The other class teacher is teacher Lee

Off I went back home n wait eagerly for his class to dismiss at 12pm

When I went to pick him up, he looks happy

Teacher Lee said Daniel is the only one crying today....but just for a while...

And guess what? Dunno which kid accidentally took Daniel's water tumble home.....muahahahahaha

All this sure happens once a while when u put 13kids together in a class

Looking forward to tomolo...2nd day of kindy!

the last day of Y2011

my last post was the first month of this year..and now it is the last month of the year...LOL

what have i been up to all this year?

travelled to taiwan for a short holiday with my parents and sis....need to go one more time as there are still many unvisited places there :)

as usual we have our spore trip to visit my grandma...this time we went by airplane which mean the kids had their first flight experience....

still working with pru...still learning at work..can u imagine that? insurance line is a never ending one...all cases are diff...but is is a nice learning experience till now...

me still a mother of two only...no sign of 3rd kid yet...hehehehehe...

daniel now age 3 years and 8 months...he started his kindy orientation day and he HATES it... no joke...how to make him accept the fact that he needs to go kindy starting next year???

annabelle now age 2 years and 6 months...she is at her "horrible two" age...always want things to follow her way.....

but they both remain to be most important to me...my darling daniel and sweetheart belle

oooh...and how about my hubby?
he left his job of 10 years at canon.... joined mitsui for 3 months and now working at sam mccoy..

and he is still my dear hubby

words from daniel

as a working mum, most of the we do not hv the privillege to be by our kids side when they hv their first smile, first word etc.....

and dunno since when, daniel's vocabulary has improved a lot.... thanks to the many repititive cartoons he watched on 613.....

and today, two new words from him is treasure & pickles... wonder if he understand the meaning of both words???

LIFE

i can still be considered a new staff at my current working place.... have not know each and every colleague of mine from the next door, PBA Dept....

one fine day, i hv the chance to bump into a colleague, J from PBA..... we hv a short chat.... she's a bubbly & friendly gal... a mum of one young bb..... she's one of our product trainer... flying all over m'sia to conduct trainings to agents but her specialization is training in mandarin....

the next day, just the very next day, her dept's colleague informed us that her hubby passed a way the nite before due to heart attack... he was only 35 yrs old.....

in just a matter of hours after we chat, who would know that her hubby will die just like that? no sign of heart attack before... he onli complained of chest pain on the nite he passed away...

it just flashed to our mind that all this could happen to anyone of us... no matter young or old... no matter married or non married.... no matter with kids or without kids....

it has been almost a month and we hv not seen J at work place.... she has lots of things to settle before she could really be back to work..... as all this just happened in a flash.. without any warning and preparation.....

may her hubby R.I.P. and may J continue to stay strong for herself and her bb gal.... still a long journey for them to carry on...... our heart goes to them....

potty training for daniel

this is the day, the first day which daniel knows when he wanna go "shee shee"... thx to MIL, daniel roughly knows when to alert us when he wanna pee...

at first, he informed mah mah every 15 minutes..... what makes he so co-operative??? it's becoz he gets to flush the toilet......but of course got a few times he totally forgot to inform us... he will then say "SAP SAI" (totally wet) while touching his wet pants.....

hope he still remembers what he need to do tomorrow, the days after etc...... it's time to get off from diapers

anyway, just wanna say to daniel: mummy so proud of you

layered agar-agar

i hv always been fascinated by agar-agar.... thanks to hubby's influence.... i tried out this layered agar-agar... but not before i searched online for the easiest recipe to follow.... on the actual day itself, i followed non of the recipes... instead i ventured on my own... as in determining the level of water, sugar etc..... the result: 50% ok

coz i did two trays of it.... onli one survived... LOL.... which means onli one turned out good... the other one was "rosak"...... as in not presentable as the layers did not stick to each other....

the good one, we gave to nearby friends and relatives.... the bad one, into our own stomach of course....

here's the recipe for my own record... not a good one... will try to improvise it soon

** i used the normal swallow brand agar2 powder **

ingredients:
(A)
one packet of red agar2 powder
900ml water
100gm of sugar

(B)
one packet of yellow agar2 powder
900ml water
100gm of sugar

(C)
one packet of green agar2 powder
900ml water
100gm of sugar

(D)
two packets of clear color agar2
400ml of coconut milk powder
1400ml water
3 pandan leaves
1/2 tsp salt

method:

1) cook (A) pour evenly into two different trays

2) cook (D). Once the (A) has harden a bit, measure about 600ml of (D) and pour evenly into the two trays. If (A) is too hard, lightly scratch it with a fork to form some "holes/ lines" so that (D) can stick onto it. The remaining of (D) to be keep in the pot and keep warm with a small flame

3) cook (B) then layered with (D) and repeat this step for (C)

** if got some leftover agar2, put it into those pattern mould, turns out nice as well **

TIPS:
this recipe is a bit time consuming compare to the normal agar2.for it to be succesful, must be really patience. preferably, the layered agar2 be cool off first before refrigerate it in the fridge for about 3 hours and finally be cut as u like.....

visit from a dear fren....

soon to be mrs lee came for a visit today.... yup.. she's here to give me the invitation card to her wedding dinner this december 26th....

we chatted so much... work... daily life... her wedding preparations..... her life as a soon to be wife, daughter in law and mother(in a couple of years as she wish).......

she is one dear fren whom i miss seeing and chatting with....

got to know her when i was still at tdm... we were both in the same section... just the two of us... two newly joined taking over the section when our senior was transferred to another dept... we both managed to survive with the guidance of our ex-boss... and ex-colleagues....

after she(and many others) left, we seldom get to meet-up as all of us are busy busy with our work & life...

but friends remain in our heart... we need not meet and chat every single day... the most important thing is we know we have a friend to rely on when we most needed them :)

here i wish here a blissful life ahead with her hubby & her new family....

my girl girl is no longer a baby... a toddler now.... a very stubborn little girl who always want us to give in to her request...

who usually gives in to her? not me definitely....

currently belle have a very bad habit which is comes dinner time, she will not want to chew her food but instead keep it in her mouth dunno for what????

my boy is definitely growing... but oops... did not measure his height and weight for some time...

he can speak more words now.. at least he can call me accurately as in mummy and no longer bah bee

however, daniel still prefers to call my dad as nor nor and not gong gong.. wonder why????

changes

so many changes in the past few months... work wise, family wise, kids wise.... macam2...

first of all, i had change my job.... an unexpected move i made after 8 years with tdm.... which mean i went through everything again.. sent out resume, attend interview, medical checkup then starts new job.....

many ppl's reaction when they knew i changed job was: serious???? i thought you will work till you retire at tdm

not one commented that... but 9/10 of them did.....

story cut short, i am now working with prudential.... a move which up to now, i have no regrets... so much learning for me.... especially on getting protection for ourself and loved ones.....

everyday is a learning day for me..... i feel like going to school each day to attend class coz the wide scope of learning awaits me... products info, claim enquiries, nominations etc.....

the onli thing i misses at tdm is the many lovely colleagues and ex-colleagues i met while working there.... they are simply the best.....

luckily my current new work place is not bad..... the colleagues are helpful and friendly as well...

as for family wise, i am still married with two kids... not pregnant at the moment... any more plan for the 3rd one? we shall wait and see :)

both kids are growing day by day... getting nottier and nottier each day.... daniel is very stubborn these days... belle is still as stubborn as before... so, i do have two VERY stubborn kids... rotan works with daniel but not belle.. sigh....

and too bad hubby is away..... he has always been my good listener... not always... most time.... why????? becoz sometimes he gave his opinion which is different from mine and i cannot accept.... hehehehe.....

but anyway, thanks to him for listening to my ramblings..... mostly on work wise..... else i would have go cuckoo.... muahahahahahaha...

waiting for the day when i can just say all out to everyone...... nope... i am not pregnant.....

belle @ 14 months old

my little girl is no longer a baby... a toddler at this stage......

she has just begin to walk a lot.... walking from the living hall to the dining, to the kitchen....
she is always busy walking and holding some toys/ paper in hand...... she loves ransacking the cabinets now.... thank god there are such thing as cabinet door lock... else MIL'S cooking utensils sure will be ransacked by notti belle....

and when she is in my bedroom, she loves sliding my wardrobe.... rearranging all my stuff at the lower drawer... and when you asked her to stop, she will pretend not hearing you..... yup.. she chose not to hear us.....

but when you said go kai kai, she will rush to the main door......

kids are like that hor.... they will filter what they want to hear... muahahahahahaha

we adults should learn from that..... this can make our life happier!

daniel's sleeping pattern

the normal bedtime routine will be with me sleeping with him on his single bed till he dozed off......

i will then back to my own bed....

but now when daddy is away for two weeks, in the middle of most nites, he will climb to our bed to sleep.......

and two nites ago, he did that and what happen? he felt down from our bed.. luckily nothing serious... i just carried him back to my bed and we both ZZZzzzzz in less than one minute... muahahahaha

how could he felt down from our bed? daniel can sleep and turn 360 degrees... he can sleep with his leg facing north... then after a while, face east, then face south, then face west... get what i mean???

perhaps he got this gene from his mummy

dear dear away

been almost a week since dear hubby is away to china for business trip.... very rare now tat he will travel for so long... this time round, it is for two weeks......

without him around, i miss him of course..

as for the kids, they both not so much kua.... hehehehe... when i asked them where is daddy? their eyes search around... daniel will answer NO... and belle will call DEAR(tat's the way i call hub)....

i am lucky coz my parents & PIL helped me out a lot in taking care of the kids for me..... if not, i would not have time to blog... to fb.... to rest when i were sick few days back....

i am so blessed....

good news

yesterday received two good news from two good frens

in the morning, siew li gave birth to her 2nd bb .... it's a BOY..... both mother and baby are fine.... siew li is now a mother of two(same level as me... hehehehe) ....... keane is now a kor kor.... may both kids grow up healthily and happily......

in the evening, kar-yee announced... not really... more of she forgot to inform us yet :)... that her wedding will be this year dec 26th..... so happy for her and alan...... may they have a blissful life ahead....

life is good!

my boy....

who else? but daniel :)

he slept with me & hubby before i gave birth to belle... sleeping on our bed, in between me and his daddy..... he is one notti baby who refused to sleep in his own bb cot... prefering to fight for space to sleep on our bed LOL......

and he is not one who sleep still for the same position... he can turn 360 degrees in one nite.....

when belle was born, he later sleeps with mah mah & yeh yeh .... sleeping on the mattress on the floor.....for a year plus ...

like so kesian ah.... no choice coz too young for him to have his own bedroom..... and PIL's room too small to fit in one more single bed.....

and now, my darling boy is back to my bedroom.... and this time, on his own single bed.....

my boy is growing....

two years plus back, he was just a baby... sleeping in his own bb cot..... on the day he was back from the hospital.......

but now, he can climb up and down his own bed(and even my king size bed) without any problem....

oooh... i so miss his baby's days......

i am still alive..

it has been a longgggg longgggg time since i last blog. why?????

two main reasons:
- lazinesssss
- busy-nessssss

there is so much i need to do.... i must start managing my time well between the kids and my own private life..... as in my own social life i mean......

i have not been meeting my good frens for dunno how long ago...... except for colleagues, i have not been lepak-ing with my good frens.... and also except for some small gatherings with the "gang & kids", basically my life is just around the WORK and the KIDS....

i have not been blogging much for my own blog(this blog) and my kids blog(daniel & belle)... so, u can imagine how many things i hv not uploaded on their milestones and their latest pic.....

i have not been managing the hundreds of photos of daniel and belle... all still stored in my house CPU or even the digital cam......

hey! i must do something! yes! i must!

busy + lazy

been a while since i last updated my blog and my kids' blogs.... reason: this mummy has been so lazy on weekdays and too busy on weekends.... yeah... time are spent so much on the kids when i am at home... imagine if i do not have my mum's or my MIL's help.... i think i will drop dead tired everyday! and did i say i spent so much time on facebook as well? :)

since i am staying at home this few days to clear my annual leave that i hv some time to update the blogs... and of course with some hint fom my good fren SL that i have not been updating the blogs lately, i have no choice but to move my butt and blog lor.... hehehe

anyway, it will be x'mas soon... looking forward to visit my grandma in s'pore.... of course i am not traveling alone... it will be the whole gang... well, almost the whole gang minus my FIL..... meaning there will be me with hubby, daniel, annabelle, my parents, MIL, sis & KJ, bro & kar lai....

labor story 2

hehehe... the title of this post some sort of like a movie title hor
e.g. toy story, toy story 2 etc....

compare to daniel's labor story, this will be a shorter one coz this time round, ananbelle's delivery was a planned c-section

Hospital Arunamari, Klang

15/6/09
7am- check in to hospital, pay RM 3000 deposit by credit card (i remembered daniel's one, i no need to pay up front but it was at another private hospital lah or maybe becoz this time is a planned c-section, so they can estimate the minimum cost oledi)
7.30am- nurse cleaned and got me ready for the c-section...
8.15am- i was sent to the operating theatre but need to wait a while... hubby waited for me outside the operating theatre...... chat with one nurse, her name oso Peggy... hehehe..

the last thing i remember, i was rolled into the operating theatre... can see some of the equipments but a bit blur coz me did not wear specs of contact lense mah

and when i woke up, sister Peggy was calling me
"Peck Yee, Peck Yee, wake up. You have delivered oledi. Everything is ok"

annabelle was born at 8.33am

i was still blur blur and sleepy coz i had general anaesthestic.... and i was sleepy for that one whole day

but i remember see-ing hubby for a while when the nurses was pushing me back to my ward while i asleep on the bed...

my parents, PIL, daniel came to visit me around 10am plus... i realised i miss daniel so much though i just didn't see him for that morning

in conclusion, this time round, no need to wait for dilation, no induction... just straight to deliver by c-section

i am glad that annabelle is born healthily
may she grow up healthily too

3rd kid next? hmmm.... don't think so.... but we will never know....

Y2009 Mothers' Day this is the 2nd year me is a Mother.... last year, daniel was only a month old... and now he is one year old plus.... and annabelle is on the way..... how time flies..... and hubby surprised me with a belated mothers' day cake on may 12th.... though a belated one but it was very thoughtful of him... no fancy dinner, no fancy gift...but a simple & very meaningful cake... thanks dear!

yday nite before sleep, as usual hubby & i will spend time with daniel before he really sleeps...

hubby went downstairs to the hall for a while.... i called out to daniel

me: daniel, come sayang "mei mei" (while i used my hand to pat my tummy)

daniel then crawl to me, put his head on my tummy and sayang sayang "mei mei"

i was surprised. normally i got to force him come near me and kiss my tummy.... but yday nite, he did it so willingly and lovingly... my boy is growing... he will be a "kor kor" soon....

i was so LAM(touched) by his reaction..... too bad hubby was not around to share it with me.....

hopefully both daniel and "mei mei" will grow up together wihtout much fights.... hehehehe

funny dream

Yday I had a funny dream.. wanna blog about it.....

Hubby, me & daniel walked into a bak kut teh shop
He asked me to go walk around and leave him & daniel there
I asked WHY
He just said GO LAH

Then I left the restaurant
This restaurant very funny one
It is like an illegal place where after I leave, they put the door grill locked and cannot see from outside one
All SEALED

Then I suspect something fishy
And guess what?
Hubby meet his EX-GF lah

I of course pissed off lah
Esp with my son with hubby and his EX
I keep on banging on the restaurant door and shouted for them to open the door

Then I dunno how I managed to open up a bit of the door
I shouted YANG YANG, YANG YANG DARLING… DANIEL BOY…..
WHERE ARE YOU? COME MUMMY HERE? (my heart was saying LEAVE YOUR STUPID DADDY WITH THAT WOMAN LAH!!!!)

Then other customers feel pity for me and went to look daniel for me

Suddenly…. My alarm clock ring lor

sad to happen

if you have been reading my blog, you will know that my 5th uncles's wife, auntie tuck is the one who helped to cut daniel's hair since he is a baby....

though we stay in setia alam, we will travel all the way to her small shop at sri sinar just to have her cut daniel's hair... why? she's an expert in her profession... though she is not a professional hairstylist but she was the one most of us in my family turn to when we need a haircut.... and when i mean family, it includes my late grandmother, my immediate family & the latest addition, daniel boy...

but sad to happen, at age of mid-40s, she passed away yesterday... heart attack.... she first felt unwell on saturday morning and then was admitted to the hospital.....

but she passed away just one day after that....

one day we could be walking, talking, laughing and suddenly you feel unwell, and just passed away.....

life is so unpredictable.....

married to my uncle for 5 years.... can still remember their marriage day..... feb 29th '04 (leap year).....

but they "pak thor" for more than 20 years before tied the knot
though she left no children behind but she will always be remembered by us...

too bad i cannot offer her my last respect as i could not attend any funerals at this time... but at least hubby & MIL attended on my behalf........

may you rest in peace, auntie tuck....

gynae said me gained too much weight of 1.5kg in two weeks time....

first time since the first check-up that he commented this

which means i have been eating A LOT recently

can't deny the fact that it is true....

midnite porridge/ milk for me else cannot sleep-lah

just got to make sure i eat healthily :)

@week 30

last week's check-up gynae predict bb no.2 is now around 1.8kg.... as for me, total weight gain is onli 7kg from day 1 of check-up... very little gained hor.... considering my tummy looks big and low... some frens said i look like can give birth anytime from now....

hopefully i can wait till week 38 for c-section.... which means count down 7 more weeks to go before welcoming annabelle.....

on off bought some stuff for her... pacifiers (to me, very important), cloth napkins (still got mamypoko diapers stock at home which daniel no longer can wear), new bb mittens, gloves, few pieces of new clothings.....

and seems like i start to have midnite hunger.... MIL will prepared some porridge for me... else i would need at least a small packet of milk before i can fell back to sleep.... i can still remember when i was pregnant with daniel, my midnite hunger started at week 12.... but with bb no. 2, it onli started at week 30... so much the difference ah.... does it mean bb no.2 is a smaller eater compare to her kor-kor? hmmmm......

today, one year ago

yeah... time flies

my darling daniel baby boy turns 1 year old
he was born 3.17pm.... almost this time one year ago

i can still remember clearly how i checked-in to the hospital to be induced after 3 days due... accompanied by hubby, i was at the hospital so the early in the morning..... but after the induction failed, daniel was born to this world through emergency caesarean.....

while hubby have to wait for me at the private ward, i was lead into the surgery theatre... and within a short time, daniel boy is born.... i remembered clearly the doctor told me IT'S A BOY and showed him to me(though i didn't really get to see/ touch him immediately)

and i did i asked the doctor HOW COME MY BABY IS NOT CRYING?

the doctor answered.... WE GOT TO LET HIM SUCK bla bla bla first.... yeah.... forgot what he said liao. was a bit blur then

i can still remember the pain i had to endure after he painkiller no longer helps..... but it is worth all the pain when i see daniel boy..... his first cry... his first smile.....

and now as he turned 1 year old , my wish for him is to grow healthily, have respect to the elders, be loving, caring and sharing to everyone.....

we love you so much, baby.....

daniel's walking

must jot this down before i forget

daniel has been learning to walk for the past month and two days ago, i saw he can walk on his own without any aid... 10 steps!!!!! another milestone for him

proud of my baby.......

at 11 mths old soon, he oledi start walking.... my mum told me i onli started to take my first step when i exactly turned 1 yr old... and now my baby can walk earlier than me

these days, you can see him walk more than crawl........ not that he can walk very steadily...... but he can walk from one point to another point.... for those distance which is far e.g. from living hall to the kitchen, he will still crawl....

what' next? running around the house and shopping centre??? which means more chasing to do.....

- touch wood, no morning sickness/ vomitting from day one... just a bit nausea for the first two weeks....
- but seems to be eating less compare to first time when i was pregnant with daniel... not much appettite...
- tummy now looks big as many ppl commented.... most probably because i have not loose the first pregnancy weight yet...so, some ppl thought my bb is almost due soon.... hehehehe
- weight gain wise, slower than first preganancy... as i enter 6th month soon, onli gained about 3kg but still, the tummy looks super big

feelings: worry at the initial stage.... because of the short gap from the first ceasarean.... but happy that hubby and i will have another child soon.... know that he wants a daughter and as gynae said, this time is 95% baby girl for us.... he said another 5% to confirm is to see the baby when she is born... true oso... nothing is 100%

sick cats

blame it on the weather.... that is the best excuse

yup.. it is the flu season

the weak ones namely me and daniel boy has been sick for days

for daniel case, last sunday note was the first time he got fever... it was already 10pm but hubby & i decided it is best to see paed... however, no paed/ doc is available at the medical centre for night treatment unless for emergency case, only a medical officer attended to us...

first, the nurse took daniel's temperature... 39 celcius... poor baby
the medical officer said not to worry... daniel was given a pill to reduce fever and fever medicine to bring home....

luckily after one nite, his fever reduced bit by bit.... and by monday evening, he was already jumping as normal... however, during daytime, he was super clining to his Mah Mah....

and two days ago, daniel started to cough and got phlegm plus running nose.... took him to see paed... given 3 types of medicine which he HATES... each time feed him with the medicine, he will scream, cry and kick his legs and tried to push away our hands with all his might.... no choice.... we still have to force it down his throat.. if the phlegm get worse, will have to send him to see paed again...

as for me, sore throat and cough and a bit of running nose..... was on MC yesterday.... and today still coughing... tried to wear the face mask to reduce the germs that i am spreading around... but it make me breathless... onli wear it once a while....

so, i just tried to limit close contacts with daniel boy....

hopefully me and daniel will get well soon...

human who is so in-considerate

one fine evening as we(me, sis & colleague) were walking towards my car after a hard day at work... oops... just a few feet away i noticed that the car on my right parked so near to my car until i cannot open the door to get into my driver's seat

in this situation, what to do but to call the driver to come down and remove the car "a bit" for me to get in.... got one of my colleague who is still in office to call and inform the driver about it... we shall call her Madam U

after a wait of 10 minutes, she walked towards us... and her face expressions was "blank"... as in no emotion.... no sad face, no happy face and most importantly no sorry face....

fine.... as i have expected Madam U to be a very cool person.... as everyone of us at work knows her......

as she almost reached her car, she looked at me with a very "I DO NOTHING WRONG HERE" face and asked me

"why? you cannot climb in from the front passenger seat to get into your driver's seat???"

what was my answer? I WISH I CAN DO IT THAT WAY

but hey! in my heart: i am not one small frame person.... plus i am wearing skirts! how to climb lah?

my dissatisfaction is IF YOU DO SOMETHING WRONG & DON'T WANT TO APOLOGIZE, PLEASE DON'T BLAME THE OTHER PARTY FOR GIVING YOU TROUBLE INSTEAD...

and in my case, Madam U feels that we need not call her to remove her car for me to get into my car as i could have climb in from the front passenger's seat... which means i am the one giving trouble and i am the one in the wrong

today is daniel's 6th month old birthday.... which means he can start taking solid food... no need to depend just on milk....

according to the baby's diet list as recommended by our paed, at 6th mth old we can try introducing rice, pear, prune, carrot, apple, barley, apricot, beef, wheat, plum, spinach, cabbage, oat, banana, chicken, peach, broccoli, lamb, turnip, potato, cherry, corn....

my daniel boy is very "wai seik"(likes to eat).... coz each time he sees anyone of us eating, he will be drooling with salivas dropping non-stop from his mouth.... and when u let him lick the spoon/ fruits, he will be stucking out his tongue, trying his best to lick as much as he can..... else he will use his hand trying to grab the spoon nearer to him.... hehehe

i wonder when he grows up later, will he be a picky eater? coz it is so common for kids being a picky eater especially when it comes to vegetables....

too bad today is a weekday.... i will onli let him try the solid food which is cereal on this coming friday as i will be on leave then..... i wanna be there when he takes his first solid food.... i wanna be there in whatever he does for the first time..... but i know, it is not possible as i am not a SAHM....

back from penang

yup...last weekend hubby and i went with our gang to attend our good fren Teh's wedding dinner in Prai, Penang..... it was a nice 3 days 2 nites trip....

our trip mainly involves food... but sad to say, we did not get to eat much of the nice Penang hawker fare mainly due to the reason we were staying at Prai rather than in the island.....

wai hoe was our food guide for a sumptious dim sum breakfast at Ipoh... we got to wait for a table seating as the number of customers there is so the MANY...... how was the dim sum? i would say FRESH & YUMMY.... let the picture speaks it words:

When we arrived at Prai, the groom-to-be, Teh and the bride-to-be, Vivian treated us for nice lunch at one of the restaurants for a nice chinese lunch.....
and while on our back to KL, again we stopped by at Ipoh for supposedly famous chicken which has smooth meat...... but unfortunately it was sold off.... i had Lam Mee which tasted very good as i finish off the soup that accompanies it.... (initially i thought the Lam Mee has black gravy as in those sold in KL)

agar-agar

* this is a backdated post *

i had a collection of simple recipes from the Malaysian Women's Weekly magazines... i found a nice and simple recipe.... i tried using agar-agar powder to make some jelly.... it turned out nicely when i tried this recipe

first one was "black beauty jelly "

ingredients:

one packet of agar-agar powder (must choose clear color ones)
one can of longan/ lychee (keep the syrup)
half tube of cincau
250ml syrup from the can of longan/ lychee
700ml water
150gm sugar

instructions:

cut the cincau into small stripes
put the cincau with longan/ lychee into the desired mould
boil the agar-agar powder with the syrup water, water and sugar until bubble appears (about 5 minutes)
put off the flame and pour into the moulds
serve chilled

* hubby loves this a lot * nice to eat on a sunny day *

second recipe was modified from the first recipe... i simply call it "soya bean jelly"

ingredients:

one packet of agar-agar powder (any color, preferably clear color)
one can of longan/ lychee (keep the syrup)
200ml syrup from the can of longan/ lychee
750ml soya bean (i used packet ones)
100gm sugar

instructions

- same as the first recipe -

* the result is good, MIL loves it as it is not too sweet * plus it is a healthier choice too since we used soya bean *

this is a backdated post... this meal was prepared last two sundays ago when MIL was not at home... while multi tasking to bake cake, surf net and taking care of daniel, i onli managed to prepare a very simple dinner for hubby & i

i made ABC soup & roast chicken wing/ drumstick

* the raw ingredients for the soup *

* just add two bowl of water & add some salt, this is the result *

* the marinated chicken *

Ingredients
3-5 lbs whole chicken
2 table spoon room-temperature butter
2 table spoon chicken seasoning powder
coarse salt & ground pepper

Directions
Preheat oven to 425 degrees
tie chicken legs together with kitchen twine.
Place chicken in a roasting pan.
Mix the butter and seasoning together
Rub chicken all over with the mixture of butter
Roast until an temperature reaches to 160 degree about 45-50 mins.

the baking of marble cake

found this simple recipe from this site

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Grease and flour a 9 inch round pan.
Place flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, butter or margarine, eggs, vanilla, and milk into mixing bowl.

Beat slowly to moisten, then beat with an electric mixer at medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth.

Reserve 3/4 cup batter; pour the remainder into pan.
Stir cocoa into the 3/4 cup reserved batter.

Drop by spoonfuls over top of white batter.

Using a knife, swirl the cocoa batter into the white batter to incorporate it in a marble effect.
Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, until an inserted wooden pick comes out clean.

1st cookies attempt

today baked some chocolate chips cookies... as usual, i surf for a simple recipe as i am still at learning stage... hehehe... the recipe can be found here....

the first tray was "undercooked".... the 2nd tray was "overcooked" (burnt)... luckily the 3rd tray onward was not bad.....

Ingredients
• 3/4 cup sugar

• 3/4 cup packed brown sugar

• 1 cup butter

• 1 large egg

• 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

• 1 teaspoon baking soda

• 1/2 teaspoon salt

• 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips(too bad i onli had a cup of it)

• if desired, 1 cup chopped pecans

Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees(about 175 celcius)

Mix sugar, brown sugar, butter and egg in a large bowl by hand.

Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt.

The dough will be very stiff.

Stir in chocolate chips.

Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown.

The centers will be soft.

Let cool for one minute then remove from cookie sheet and place on wire rack to finish cooling.

Roasted Nam Yee Chicken Wings

since my mum's oven is still at my house, last weekend me & my MIL decided to roast some chicken wings..... so, what i do were to surf the net for another simple recipe... and i found it at kuali.com

Ingredients

8 chicken wings, cleaned

Combine:
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp honey

Seasoning:
1/2 tbsp chilli paste
1 piece red nam yee
1 tbsp ground coriander
1/2 tsp salt or to taste
1/2 tsp Chinese five spice powder (ng heong fan)
1 tbsp fish sauce (nampla)
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Method

Combine all seasoning ingredients in a mixing bowl.
Place chicken wings in a bowl and mix well until they are evenly coated with seasoning.
Place chicken wings in a plastic container, cover and refrigerate for several hours or preferably, overnight.
Arrange chicken wings on a wire rack placed in a baking tray lined with tin foil.
Bake in a preheated oven at 200ºC for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
At the end of the baking time, remove the chicken wings and brush with the honey and oil glaze, then bake the wings for five to six more minutes until they become shiny and a little charred.

a very simple recipe i found from this site

Ingredients for Quick Sponge Cake

2½ teaspoons baking powder
½ cup hot water
1½ cups sugar (do consider using less)
½ teaspoon lemon or vanilla extract (i used vanilla essence)
2 cups flour
4 eggs

Instructions

1. Separate the eggs.
2. Add hot water to yolks of egg and beat until thick.
3. Add gradually sugar and flavoring while beating.
4. Add whites beaten stiff.
5. Fold in sifted flour and baking powder.
6. Turn into buttered and floured cake tin, and bake in moderate oven for 30 to 35 minutes

both me and sis got no idea at all on how to bake a cake... so, the best way is to buy a premix.... yesterday after work, we went to GIANT hypermarket to get the premix.....

all we need to do is just to follow the simple instructions...

* the packet of premix retail @ RM 9.99 *
* preheat the oven at 180 celcius *
* we used planta margerine to grease the pan *
* put in the premix together with the egg & a 1/4 cup of oil *
* stir the ingredients for a few minutes, then put into the oven *
* after baking for 30 minutes at 180 celcius *
* the end result: i find it too sweet but my sis likes it *

5 days work week

the day has come.... after working for my current company for the past 6 years, there will be a change of working hours and week....

effective july 1st '08... we will be working 5 working days a week... 8.45am to 5.45pm....

current is 8.45am to 5.15pm and alternate working saturday 8.45am to 1.00pm

so, we will have more flexibility to plan for holidays..... no need to count which saturday will we be working..... and no need to get a colleague to swap saturdays.........

and the best part is we get to save petrol coz onli need to travel 5 days to work.....

daniel's first batch of learning materials
my mum who went to visit singapore recently brought this back for daniel...

it was a gift from my auntie Li Ping, cousin wilson and my mum herself....

next month daniel will start "attending" this informal class to be conducted by my MIL during daytime and me during nite time before sleep...

no... not that we wanna pressure daniel to learn at such an early age... just that we wanna show him all those attractive pictures which he will enjoy see-ing.... or else he will just be so bored lying on the bed/ bouncer

my first baking attempt

hahahaha... i shouldn't consider this as baking.... coz the recipe is actually simple and i don't need an oven to bake it..... reason: it is steamed banana raisin cake.... yeah... all i need is just a wok to steam the cake instead of an oven (plus i don't have oven at home)

i tried out this recipe on thursday right after work..... baking on a weekday? dunno why i was so "semangat" to do it....

me found the recipe from this site

Ingredients

1 ripe banana, mashed (i actually used 5 bananas instead)
1 egg
1 teaspoon oil
2 teaspoons water
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 cup icing sugar
100g (close to 1 cup) all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons of semi-sweet chocolate chips or raisins, optional

* just put all ingredients into the pan *
* before steaming the cake *
* when i first saw the outcome, i thought Oh Oh.... no one will wanna eat it *
* the end result *

can u see that? i just need to wash a pan and a fork... all can be done in less than 30 minutes(preparations + steaming + washing)

i highly recommend this recipe to those who are interested to learn to bake....

MIL & my mummy finish all of it in one day.... so, i guess the result is not that bad

chocolates

as mentioned in my previous posts, earlier this month hubby went for business trip to Batam.... and the only request that i have for him to bring home is chocolate... didn't expect that he will buy three different type of my favourite dark chocolates....all Hershey's...... well, he bought it at the KLIA.... not from Batam..... hehehe... look forward for him to go for his next business trip so that he can buy more dark chocolates for me :)

my two babies

as i were preparing to leave for work this morning, both my "babies" Mr Lam and Junior Lam is sleeping soundly on the bed... hehehe

it is so cute to see them both lying beside each other.... plus daniel baby is the look-alike of his daddy... so, imagine two of them with the same look but different body size sleeping side by side...

i wish i am at home now.... to laze beside both of them...but NO... i am at work now...sigh

i miss them both.... can't wait to go home.....

where is my dear hubby now?

this morning my dear hubby left for a short business trip to Batam Island... just for 3days & 2 nites onli.... actually he went there last week and this time it is a follow-up trip... it was his first time to the island... nothing much to do or to see there... he onli travels between the aiport, hotel & supplier's place... "makan" oso at the hotel onli... so boring-nya..

this time i don't miss hubby as much as last time.. maybe becoz it is a short trip or maybe becoz i hv daniel to accompany me... muahahaha...

it's like this one... when u hv a newborn bb, automatically hubby's status fall down from 1st to 2nd place in our heart... agree? hehehe

been trying to upload some of daniel's pic but cannot do so... until today then i decide to use slide.com instead.... or else dunno how... wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same problem as me.... if yes, how to solve it? i remembered it happen before but i forgot how to solve it oledi...

japanese meal at Sushi Zanmai

last week, my MIL, my mummy & I brought daniel out for some "shopping"... we headed to The Gardens & MidValley City.... actually it's us adults who wanna go for a walk... hehehe... for lunch, we managed to meet up with my dad and had lunch at Sushi Zanmai at The Gardens... the food not bad... so long that i never blog & post some food photos.... after giving birth to daniel, this is the first time that i had such a lovely lunch... hehehe
